Summary Of Position
The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is the trade association for the travel agency community. ASTA's mission is to promote and defend the industry through proactive representation, shared knowledge, and the advancement of professionalism. A membership organization, ASTA's network of travel professionals expands beyond the agency community and includes suppliers, tour operators, government tourism agencies, and hoteliers worldwide.
Within the Accounting Department, the director will work closely with departmental staff to oversee the accounting functions of the companies in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner in adherence to GAAP regulations.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
•Proficiency in all aspects of accounting regulations, policies, and procedures under GAAP.
•Manage accounts payable/accounts receivable and reporting transactions.
•Manage general ledger functions and reconciliations.
•Perform analysis on AP and AR financial results, trends, costs, and budgets.
•Prepare cash flow forecasts.
•Assist with monthly close.
•Create policies and procedures to identify, resolve, and document accounting issues.
•Create procedures to make the closing and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.
•Prepare state and federal filing schedules and forms for monthly, quarterly, and annual registration submissions.
•Support budgeting and forecasting process.
•Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
Qualifications
Requirements
•BS degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
•MBA/CPA preferred.
•5-8 years of AP/AR and general ledger experience.
•3-5 years of managerial experience.
•Thorough knowledge of US GAAP.
•History of financial data system implementation and change management.
•Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software.
•Meticulous attention to detail and strong time management skills.
•Experience with MS Dynamics, iMIS, and PN3 software.
•Advanced Microsoft Excel.
•Proficiency in English and MS Office.
•Customer service orientation and negotiation skills.
