Accountant - Level 2 (Rebates)
Summary: Maintains accounting and statistical records by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist Accounting Controller with annual audit and working with auditors including: preparing reports/letters and processing requests for information.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Learn and understand the mission of the company and stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting regulations.
  • Assist the Accounting Controller, the Executive Leadership Team, and other departmental managers to ensure the timely and accurate processing of rebates, including verification of rebate integrity by vendors.
  • Prepare rebates for distribution to dealers using various ABS programs, vendor information, and spreadsheet programs.
  • Prepare various rebate reports for Management on a monthly basis. Assist in providing rebate information through questions or reports to Management as needed.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Enter journal entries into the system of record on a daily/monthly basis for assigned tasks.
  • Prepare vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with monitoring compliance with accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, purchasing files, price lists and other reports to access accuracy.
  • Modify and document record keeping and accounting systems for the department making use of current computer technology.
  • Responds to accounts payable inquiries by answering incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of callers, and assists dealers by expediting and assisting other team members in servicing dealer needs. Work with departmental staff to achieve departmental goals Work cohesively as a team with other members, including cross training and sharing assignments (workloads) with each other in order to assist with company accounting functions, as needed.
  • Performs other designated functions as required.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting or other related field, Accounting degree, preferred. Previous experience with processing rebates, a plus.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, financial reports, legal documents, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints from customers, vendors, and employees. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, board of directors, employees, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency, weight, measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to interpret statistical data including analysis of variance, correlations techniques, and analysis of pertinent market variables. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with complex issues.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a functional knowledge of Accounting and Database software. Should also be proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and other windows applications.
Must be proficient with an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Must be able to create and modify Excel spreadsheets including creating formulas, linking spreadsheets, copying, and moving data, filtering, and sorting data, importing, and validating data, and functions.
Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX, a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid Driver's License, preferred.
