Senior Accountant III of Financial Reporting
Position Summary:

National Life Group currently has an opening for an Accountant II or Senior Accountant to join a team that is fundamental to the Financial Reporting and analysis function of the organization. This position offers a chance to gain broad accounting, finance, and industry experience in a dynamic environment. Qualified candidates will be proven self-starters who desire to advance into future leadership positions. The Accountant II or Senior Accountant reports to the Manager of Financial Reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and/or review GAAP and Statutory financial statements, regulatory filings and related reconciliation controls.
- Participate in financial close process by preparing and/or reviewing journal entries and analyzing results, oversee close calendar.
- Analyze and implement business process changes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of accounting function.
- Analyze business processes for compliance with corporate policy/procedures, as well as state and federal regulatory authorities.
- Provide support to senior level management on special projects as assigned.
- Create, analyze, and communicate monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports and ensure financial information has been recorded accurately.
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
- Participate and lead in the planning, forecasting, and budgeting for business units.
- Research technical accounting standards and apply to reporting results and disclosures. Assist with drafting accounting policy memos.
- Train and mentor junior staff.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years for Accountant II and Minimum 7 years for Accountant III of experience in accounting, Financial Reporting, and/or auditing
- Bachelor's degree, concentration in accounting preferred.
- Big 4 public accounting experience (preferred).
- CPA (preferred)
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with US GAAP Accounting and or Statutory Reporting
- Proven ability to execute within time constraints.
- Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve financial issues.
- Ability to continually manage multiple priorities.
