Our Energy & Transportation (E&T) segment has a broad portfolio of products and services - which include engines, generator sets, industrial gas turbines and locomotives, along with other related equipment depending on the industry and application. We deliver these products and services to Cat machine, oil & gas, power generation, transportation and industrial customers. E&T is also developing the advanced power sources of the future and is working on many solutions to help our customers lower their carbon footprint. Job Summary
As an Accountant within the Caterpillar Oil & Gas Services team, you will independently perform accounting functions which entail preparation, analysis, and communication of items from normal to high complexity. This role provides an ideal opportunity to gain experience in an area of high strategic importance (i.e., services growth) in a cross functional environment that interfaces with commercial & operations teams. The job also provides a wide breath of experience through exposure to legal entity, accountable, profitability analysis, and customer facing accounting tasks.
What You Will Do:
- Understand, follow, and appropriately execute the billing side of detailed customer contracts
- Provides monthly support and reporting for contract invoicing related to new Services’ businesses
- Support profitability analysis of customer contracts and rental asset tracking
- Complete monthly analysis that supports reporting requirements
- Support accountable reporting lead in the forecasting process
- Complete monthly closing responsibilities
- Perform ad-hoc requests as needed
What You Have:
- Education/Experience: The position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent/experience.
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare reports using accounting methods and processes.
- Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
