Our Energy & Transportation (E&T) segment has a broad portfolio of products and services - which include engines, generator sets, industrial gas turbines and locomotives, along with other related equipment depending on the industry and application. We deliver these products and services to Cat machine, oil & gas, power generation, transportation, and industrial customers. E&T is also developing the advanced power sources of the future and is working on many solutions to help our customers lower their carbon footprint.
Job Summary
Caterpillar Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) Medium Engines is seeking an Accountant in Griffin, GA for our Perkins manufacturing facility (produces the compact and powerful 400 Series range of engines). This highly motivated individual contributor will provide timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis in the areas of intercompany transactions, compliance, and inventory management.
What You Will Do:
- Maintain financial records in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards (e.g. reconciliations, journal entries, etc.).
- Partner with subject matter experts across teams/facilities for analysis of intercompany sales and resolution of discrepancies.
- Take part in and help drive special project and ad hoc reporting requests.
- Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls; ensure accounting procedures comply with GAAP and business processes adhere to governance procedures.
- Prepare monthly margin analysis.

- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2+ years of job-related experience
- Strong intellectual curiosity and interpersonal skills.
- Initiative, good judgement and accountability.
- Ability to resolve issues independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Familiarity with tools such as Excel and Power BI.
