HOURS: Full-time, Exempt Position; 52 Weeks/year, 40 hours/week
SALARY: $60,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, or a related field with a significant background in Accounting or related job experience in School Business Office Functions
- Five years of related experience and experience in a Michigan Public School Business Office (preferred)
- Familiarity with the Michigan Public School Accounting Manual (preferred)
- Experience with general governmental fund accounting rules and regulations including, but not limited to, financial reporting, recording transactions and maintaining general ledgers.
- Computer proficiency in Excel, Google email, Business+, etc. Ability to learn new programs is a must.
- Budget development and monitoring experience
- Grant monitoring and reporting experience (preferred)
- Knowledge with ORS and state and local requirements for public schools (preferred)
- Demonstrated success collaborating with all staff classifications in the performance of duties
- Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Good organizational and problem solving skills
- Self directed initiative when given a variety of tasks and responsibilities
- Enthusiastic and takes initiative
- High degree of efficiency and accuracy
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform cash receipting and recording functions including - activity funds, athletic events, childcare payments, grant payments, etc.
- Assist with accounts receivable billing including billings for permits, insurance & childcare
- Assist with grant monitoring and quarterly/annual reporting (including Federal, State & Local Grants) - Special Ed, Titles, GSRP, Head Start, Food Service, Medicaid, etc.
- Provide assistance for the accounting of district funds in accordance with state and federal requirements, generally accepted accounting principles, and district policies
- Prepare adjusting journal entries according to 1022 accounting manual
- Assist Accounting Supervisor with preparing budget projections
- Assist Accounting Supervisor with tax reporting - W2, 1099, 1095-C, 941, Sales, State & Detroit
- Assist with Bank Reconciliations
- Assist Accounting Supervisor with annual audit preparation (schedules, reconciliations, etc)
- Perform accounting duties to aide others in the efficient operation of payables, receivables, cash receipts, payroll, benefits and other business office functions
- Crosstrain in various business office functions including AP, Payroll & Benefits
- Provide assistance for implementation of proper internal control and accounting procedures
- Facilitate ad hoc training for various staff members, when needed
- Initiative to evaluate business functions and assist in implementation of new processes or programs
- Daily problem solving and the creation of a positive, service oriented business office
- Other duties as assigned
