The Account Manager is responsible for generating profitable revenue growth in the manufacturing and special waste sector by utilizing a consultative sales approach. This position offers Sustainability Solutions through VLS’s Waste to Energy services as well as landfill/disposal services to a broad mix of customer segments including industrial, automotive, construction, healthcare, and commercial customers. The Account Manager generates revenue through lead generation, upselling in an existing book of business, and by developing relationships with key decision makers and stakeholders of prospects and clients. A successful Account Manager gathers complex data, disseminates information internally and/or with vendors, formulates a logistics plan for managing waste, and completes necessary documents such as waste profiles, credit applications, and proposals. The Account Manager works closely with Operations and National Accounts Managers to develop a business plan, monitors competitors, industry trends and optimizes customer service.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage a well-developed pipeline through CRM of potential clients at amounts to exceed revenue goals.
- Identify viable leads, manage prospects, and acquire new, profitable clients to meet and exceed established targeted revenue goals.
- Build long-term relationships with contractors, prospective and existing clients in designated market.
- Assist clients in selecting services based on their needs, specifications, and regulations.
- Emphasize company features based on analyses of client’s needs and technical knowledge of company capabilities and limitations.
- Answer client’s questions about proposals, timelines, and logistics
- Negotiate pricing and terms of sale and service agreements.
- Prepare sales contracts and submit orders for processing.
- Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information, such as selling strategies and marketing information.
- Follow up with clients to ensure they are satisfied with their services and to answer any questions or concerns.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years sales experience within industrial field, special waste/industrial waste
- Minimum of 1 year managing, selling to, and retaining large customer accounts.
- Knowledge of Environmental regulations, regulation codes, different types of industrial waste pertinent to the territory (Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and W. Tennessee)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Contact Relationship Management (CRM)
- Excellent time management and organizational skills

- Ability to work remotely and travel 25% to 50% of the time within the territory and to other locations.
