Edelman is looking for a superior Account Executive, Earned to join our Earned Media Team mainly supporting a beauty & personal care account amongst other lifestyle clients. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, a problem solver at heart, has strong media relations and storytelling skills and is well-versed in the media landscape. Experience working with beauty and/or personal care accounts in addition to managing and staffing virtual and/or in-person events is a plus.

Leveraging earned media is critical to any client activation or campaign in today's ever-changing media ecosystem, and the Edelman media team is home to some of the best specialists in the industry. We nurture and value a hands-on approach to developing and maintaining relationships with reporters, editors, and producers at news outlets to ensure our client's stories are carefully evaluated and strongly considered for coverage and inclusion. Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the public relations industry and its basic principles
    • Research, outline, write, edit, and proofread materials, including press materials, scripts, newsletter articles, awards, and social media content
    • Demonstrate a general knowledge of media landscape including outlets and reporters, as well as how media outlets are using social media tools and eager to incorporate them into our work
    • Build a network of media and industry influencer contacts and support in media outreach, securing stories, and tracking results
    • Understand key client information, including business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors
    • Support planning and execution for earned media strategies, inclusive of research, analysis of media coverage and online conversations, and integration with support agencies
    • Provide client service administration, including preparing client status and activity reports, attending (in-person and virtual) meetings and conference calls, compiling media and competitor coverage, coordinating media outreach and press tours, scheduling and logistics
    • Proactively develop and offer fresh story angles to internal account teams and clients
    • Collaborate with creative, influencer, and strategy teams for ideation and to ensure earned angles, as required.
    • Manage projects using organizational skills, working with colleagues, vendors, and support agencies, and keeping project leaders apprised of status.
    • Commit to continuous learning and improvement of your technical and leadership skills
    • Help supervise interns/trainees and provide ongoing, constructive feedback
    • Demonstrate being a detail-oriented communicator with an energetic presence and entrepreneurial spirit.

Basic Qualifications:
    • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in public relations and/or communications-related fields including research, advertising, management consulting, media and publishing
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
    • 1-2 + years of agency experience
    • Experience working with commonly used platforms such as Muckrack, Cision, etc
    • Experience pitching and securing earned coverage across online, broadcast, print and/or social media for consumer client(s)
    • Fundamental understanding of media outreach assignments and apply experience and initiative in developing appropriate traditional and online media strategies.
    • Familiarity with viral content and interest in staying on top of trending topics and pop culture news.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
    • Strong research, writing, and editing skills and an eagerness to foster media relationships.
    • Experience pitching and securing earned stories across online, broadcast, print, and/or social media.
    • Proactive self-starter with excellent organizational and project management skills, and the ability to adapt to change and meet deadlines.
    • Affinity for storytelling and an ability to generate creative ideas that support earned-centric client goals

$42,000 - $62,000 a year
An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEH's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
