Position Information DICKINSON STATE UNIVERSITY (DSU) is a regional comprehensive institution within the North Dakota University System, whose primary role is to contribute to intellectual, social, economic, and cultural development, especially to Southwestern North Dakota. The University's mission is to provide high quality, accessible programs; to promote excellence in teaching and learning; to support scholarly and creative activities; and to provide service relevant to the economy, health, and quality of life for the citizens of the State of North Dakota. The Student Opportunity and Resource (SOAR) Center provide resources and services to assist students in pursuing their academic goals at Dickinson State University, in and out of the classroom.

SOAR Center offices work collaboratively to enhance the mission of DSU through servant-centered leadership and providing high-quality and accessible programs promoting excellence in learning and supporting scholarly activities. SOAR Center includes academic and advising resources, career services, Accessibility Services and tutoring services. DSU is seeking an Accessibility Services and Tutoring Center Coordinator.

In the Accessibility Services coordinator role you will advocate for students with disabilities across campus and works closely with academic and student affairs in providing accommodations, ADA compliance and updated policies, procedures, and/or regulations regarding compliance status(es). The accessibility coordinator is responsible for the long-term planning, service, delivery, and assessment of services provided. In the Tutoring Center Coordinator role you will bring together several related SOAR services: tutoring in major disciplinary areas, classroom support in areas such as study and test-taking skills, and assistance in retention efforts.

This position reports to the director of the SOAR Center. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of relevant experience and willingness to earn a Master's degree, or o Master's degree or higher REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Basic knowledge of computers, office-type software, and internet. Attention to detail.

Ability to meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to maintain confidential files and documentation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree Education background Experience in Higher Education Prior experience with Blackboard CMS Proficiencies using Microsoft Office Suite Prior experience using PeopleSoft Understanding of ADA and Fair Housing Act regulations Ability to use and maintain a variety of assistive devices, equipment and software. Knowledge of Tutoring Center certification(s) Knowledge of student development theories and/or student-centered philosophy to retention efforts.

DELIVERABLES & OUTCOMES: Coordinate Accessibility Services o Accommodations Coordination Evaluates documentation requesting accessibility accommodations based on the ND-DSC/AHEAD criteria. Documents the basis for accommodation decisions and recommendations. Maintains accessibility accommodation records for students.

Coordinates with the Director of Campus Life regarding accommodations in housing facilities. Facilitates accommodations and services for students with accessibility issues in conjunction with faculty and staff. Facilitates accommodations and services for students with accessibility issues in conjunction with Distance Education and various faculty and staff off-site.

Maintains memberships to alternate text agencies, facilitates students requests; maintains records of alternate texts transmissions and returns. Schedules and proctors quizzes and exams. Maintains professional/institutional memberships to AHEAD or similar organizations, and attends professional development institutes, to stay informed of current issues, legislation and best practices.

Monitors and records equipment check out, use and returns. Hires, trains note-takers and coordinates the timely transmission of notes. o ADA Compliance, Policies, and Procedures Ensures key administrators remain apprised of emerging accessibility issues on campus that may warrant a new or revised policy.

Coordinates, implements, and assess all accessibility products and services. Coordinates and implements a policy and procedure manual for Accessibility Services offered through Student Affairs Distributes approved policies and procedures on availability of and access to Accessibility Services. Ensures access to information about Accessibility Services to students, administration, faculty and staff.

o Campus Awareness Provides training for staff, faculty and administration to facilitate and enhance the integration of students with accessibility issues into the university community. Works with facilities to foster campus awareness regarding physical accessibility issues. Maintain a positive working relationship with campus faculty and staff, resource people within the service area and personnel from other post-secondary institutions.

Function as a liaison for students with faculty, staff, community services, and other areas as needed. Other duties as assigned. Coordinate Tutoring Center Services Maintain primary responsibility for coordination and management of the DSU Tutoring Center.

Provide day-to-day oversight of Tutoring Center operations. Recruit, interview and hire tutoring staff. Solicit referrals from faculty for possible tutors.

Train and assess tutoring staff. Collaborate with faculty and other SOAR Center staff in tutor hiring, development, and assessment. Develop positive relationships with university students, faculty, staff, and community members to foster goodwill toward the University.

Assess various tutoring programs and change programs based on best practices and assessment feedback. Working around course schedules, create weekly schedules for tutors. Provide ongoing tutor education.

Provide supervision of tutoring staff as needed. Provide feedback to tutoring staff based on session observations, verification forms, etc. Develop and present classroom workshops that are directly related to academic skill building (notetaking, test-taking, reading, writing (thesis statements, citing sources, lab reports, etc.), studying, time management, plagiarism, etc.).

Oversee scheduling software. Establish study halls/group study as needed. Promote the Tutoring Center through printed materials, social media, websites, classroom visitation, department visitation, housing presentations, etc.

Participate on University Committees as needed and approved by supervisor. Assist in coordination and promotion of university sponsored events. Work nights and weekends, as assigned.

Attend team meetings. Participate in professional development opportunities to develop knowledge and strengthen skills in professional field. Other duties as assigned.

Coordinate Testing Center Services Administers placement testing for non-DSU students, early entry and dual-placement DSU students Serves as the chief examiner for all CLEP, WorkKeys, and all other non-DSU proctored tests and exams. Serve as point of contact regarding exam/test information and regulation as well as institution policies and procedures for placement tests, exam-for-credit tests, and other non-DSU testing and exams. Works closely with other departments to create, implement, and enforce institutional testing procedures and security controls, ensuring compliance with exam/testing as well as institutional, state, and national regulations and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.
