Access Tech III- Inside Plant is focused on development and maintenance of digital and analog headend and hub equipment.
Responsibilities

  • Design and construct multiple program transport stream (MPTS) streams from various sources that include constant bit rate (CBR) Encoding, variable bit rate (VBR) Encoding, and Multi Decrypt Satellite Receivers.
  • Perform tasks of high complexity relating to the installation and service/troubleshooting (problem analysis), and configuration of various digital and analog headend, and hub equipment (cable, digital, and telephony).
  • Test and analyze ASI (Asynchronous Serial Interface) and IP (Internet Protocol) transport streams, demonstrate full understanding of master headend (MHE) redundancy systems, including architecture of ASI and IP master transport rings both within the Digital Headend and throughout Service Areas.
  • Maintain ASI and IP streams constructed from various sources, including CBR Encoding, VBR Encoding, and MultiDecrypt Satellite Receivers off air receive video processors.
  • Provision equipment as needed, (QAM devices, Imux, Multiplexers, Encoders, Decoders, transcoders (ACE), Mentor, Path1, digital content manager (DCM) and RF gateway QAM (RFGW)) ensuring adequate inventory, and maintaining equipment repair and inventory records.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding technical problems and issues to ensure that they are addressed in a timely and complete manner.

Qualifications
  • Technical school, equivalent college courses, or on the job experience.
  • Minimum 6 months of success as a BBT IV, Access I Technician or Access II Technician and in good standing.
  • SCTE Broadband Telecom Specialist Exam certification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all ISP test equipment including Analog and QAM spectrum analyzers, optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR), digital, etc.
  • Subject matter expert regarding community antenna television (CATV) system design and operational parameters as well as high speed data/voice over internet protocol (HSD/VOIP) service related equipment.
  • Complete understanding of State and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations pertaining to CATV.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required as well as 24 hours standby when needed.
  • Clean and valid Driver's License with ability to travel to other work locations as necessary.
