The Department of Medicine at theUniversity of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP), located in amid-size metropolitan area, seeks an Academic Geriatrician to assist the departmentteach medical students and residents in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics Diseases. Other duties include assisting the department: provide clinical patient care inGeriatrics Internal Medicine in the hospital and clinics; provide Grand Roundsand lectures; assist with curriculum development; participate in clinical medicalscience research; and perform administrative duties and University service asassigned.
UICOMP is one of the threeregional campuses of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, one of thelargest public medical schools in the country.  UICOMP's educationalprograms include 244 medical students and 300 residents/fellows in 21 differentpost graduate programs.  The Department ofMedicine's faculty teach at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, a tertiary carefacility serving a 37 county region with a population of over 2 million people.A joint venture between UICOMP and OSF, the Jump Trading Simulation EducationCenter is a world-class facility with over 40,000 square feet of space whichprovides the highest level of Clinical education, medical research, andtraining https://www.jumpsimulation.org. 
Requirements for the title of Asst/Assoc/Prof ofClinical Medicine are an MD/DO degree or its foreign equivalent, plus 3 yearsof training (3 years in an Internal Medicine residency program), eligible formedical licensure in Illinois, and board certification or eligibility forcertification in Internal Medicine.

Position Summary

The incumbent will direct patient care and supervise instruction.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care on inpatient units at our University-affiliated hospital
  •  Direct patient care in our departmental outpatient clinic
  •  Supervision and teaching of internal medicine residents and medical students
  •  Function as a University faculty member, performing such duties as are appropriate to academic rank and position.
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO or equivalent
  • Board certified/eligible for certifying examination of the American Board of Internal Medicine or comparable certifying authority
  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois
  • Eligible for medical staff appointment at university-affiliated hospital
  • 3 years experience in geriatrics
  • Experience in inpatient and outpatient internal medicine/geriatrics
  • Experience in working collaboratively as a part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Interest in providing high-quality education
  • Collaborate with resident physicians and medical students on research projects.
