Direct Report: Director of Elementary
Terms of Employment: 550 hours, 1 year
Purpose: Academic Coach will provide many services including professional development and monitoring of instructional support in classrooms.
Essential Job Functions:
Academic Coach must be able to:
- Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
- Write and speak in a logical and understandable style, using appropriate grammar and sentence structure, and demonstrate a command of standard English, enunciation, clarity of oral directions, and pace and precision in speaking.
- Read, comprehend, and interpret professional and other written material.
- Compute, think logically, and solve problems.
- Use and integrate appropriate technology in teaching and learning processes and in managing, evaluating, and improving instruction.
- Use teaching and learning strategies that include consideration of each student's learning styles, needs, and background.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain a positive, collaborative relationship with colleagues and administration.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain a positive environment in the classroom while achieving order and discipline.
- Demonstrate 3 years of successful teaching experience.
- Demonstrate professionalism and commitment to excellence.
- Model effective classroom practices.
Academic Coach will:
- Provide in-school demonstration and coaching to teachers.
- Conduct teacher study group sessions.
- Support building leadership team.
- Provide professional development for instructional support.
- Plan the focus of coaching visits and teacher study groups by analyzing information of assigned classrooms and using information to inform practice.
- Conduct and/or participate in classroom walkthroughs in assigned schools to engage teachers, administrators, and others to identify examples of effective classroom practices.
- Provide other duties assigned.
