GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanical Engineering Technology involves assisting engineers in designing, developing, testing, and manufacturing machinery, products, and equipment. To qualify for these positions, which command excellent salaries, job applicants should have a resume that includes and associate degree. The Greenville Technical College Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program delivers textbook knowledge and hands-on practice with the software and technology of the industry, preparing graduates to enter the field and succeed. The Mechanical Engineering Technology program will equip graduates to use their knowledge and training to provide technical support and/or quality design to manufacturing/engineering processes for their employer and encourage staying abreast of changing technologies through life-long learning. The MET program is accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET. As of the spring 2019 semester there were 84 students enrolled, with 3 full-time faculty plus supplemental adjunct instructors. Program options include Mechanical Engineering Technology - Associate in Applied Science. This department also teaches the engineering transfer classes for the Associate of Science in Science with a concentration in engineering for transfer to 4-year calculus based engineering programs. This program currently has 175 students enrolled.
In this challenging role you will support the Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) Department for Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:
- Teach Engineering Materials, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related courses.
- Develop and maintain course documentation.
- Maintain audio-visual and/or other materials for courses taught.
- Prepare for class presentations.
- Provide and explain course syllabus.
- Present material so as to enable coverage of vital concepts and permit student understanding.
- Utilize material, instructional methods and innovations conducive to creating an appropriate learning environment.
- Relate subject matter to "real life" situations.
- Adhere to class schedules.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare and submit reports
- Evaluate students in accordance with policy outlined in course syllabus.
- Provide regular evaluation and feedback to students.
The employee will work under the supervision of theManufacturing Engineering Technology Department Head. Course content guidance will be provided bythe course's Lead Instructor. TheAcademic Program Director will provide guidelines on course quality. The employee is expected to apply his/herinitiative in assigned job tasks and remain current in the field and methods oftechnical instruction.
Essential Functions
InstructionalDevelopment

Teachingand Instructional Management
Provide and explain course syllabus. Present material so as to enable coverage 75%
ofvital concepts and permit student understanding. Utilize material, instructional
methodsand innovations conducive to creating an appropriate learning environment.
Adaptmaterial and methods to meet individual needs when practiced. Relate
subjectmatter to "real life" situations. Adhereto class schedules. Maintain accurate
records. Prepare and submit reports.
StudentEvaluation and Advising
Evaluate students in accordance with policy outlinedin course syllabus. Provide 5%
regularevaluation and feedback to students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Master's degree with a major in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING or a related field or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, or a related field or a Bachelor's degree with a major in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING or a related field and professional licensure in the field, and five (5) years of documented industrial/professional experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The employee should have the knowledge and capability to teach MECHANICAL ENGINEERING courses. A Master of Science or Engineering degree in: Mechanical Engineering or another related field of study with a minimum of five years of industrial experience in manufacturing, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, material science or other justified engineering experience is required. Experience with Excel spreadsheets is required. Experience teaching is a plus. Experience with SolidWorks, MATLab, and/or C/C++ is a plus.
