Position Summary: The 529 Fund Accounting Manager/Officer is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the 529 Fund Accounting group. The 529 Fund Accounting group is responsible for the daily Fund Accounting, financial statement preparation and regulatory reporting for multiple portfolios and share classes totaling over $25 billion in assets that reside in eight different 529 plans.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the oversight of daily 529 Fund Accounting functions. Monitors and reviews daily trading, general ledger activity and pricing of funds to ensure accuracy of daily NAV calculation.
- Prepare and review, various management reports as well as financial statements and required regulatory filings for all fund entities.
- Provides leadership and supervision to Fund Accounting employees; including but not limited to hiring, training, mentoring, and developing employees, delegating work assignments, writing, and conducting performance appraisals (4x2s), approval of timecards and administering corrective actions.
- Ensure all team members are productive and assisting other areas. Fostering a Team attitude within all areas of the 529 Group.
- Direct the planning, development, and implementation of necessary policies and procedures as updates occur in the industry and ensure audit and control regulations are being met at all times.
- Serve as the relationship manager with third party vendors and service providers.
- Primarily responsible for the management of internal and external audit engagements. Including the preparation and review of Financial Statements for all of UBT’s College Savings Plans.
- Responsible for the administration of the Fund Accounting software.
- Responsible for the implementation of process efficiencies and development of new processes relating to new products and services.
- Prepares and reviews fee reconciliations, data extracts, and bank reconciliation documents.
- Continuous monitoring of operational controls for adequacy, compliance, and integrity of data; updates, documents and communicates procedures of department to necessary staff.
- Ensure subordinates are trained and comply with bank policy, laws and regulations applicable to their roles. Monitor subordinates’ adherence to internal controls and take action to address employee performance issues.
- Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training: follow internal processes and controls as required.
- Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, MBA/CPA strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of accounting experience in the financial services industry and Mutual Fund experience is required.
- Thorough knowledge of standard accounting systems and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- 5+ years Supervisory experience preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of MFACT (or similar system) experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of financial statement preparation and analysis experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and in working with other trust and financial software
- Proven leadership skills required.

Working Environment:
Sedentary work – lifting and/or carrying up to 10 lbs. occasionally.
