Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the grocery department, including inventory management, stocking, and customer service
- Ensure that shelves are properly stocked and organized to meet customer demand
- Supervise and train grocery store staff, including clerks and cashiers
- Monitor sales trends and adjust inventory levels accordingly
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a timely manner
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures
- Collaborate with other department managers to ensure smooth store operations
- Manage payroll and scheduling for grocery department staff
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in retail management, preferably in a grocery store setting
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
- Proficient in cash handling procedures and basic math skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to negotiate with vendors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing
- Knowledge of market trends and ability to make informed purchasing decisions
