Description

The Certified Nursing Aide assists nursing personnel in providing non-professional nursing care and simple technical nursing services under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse following established policies and procedures.  This 3rd Shift position is for a 6p-6a shift, Tuesday through Thursday ONLY as the weekend is currently covered with weekend package staff!

FUNCTIONS: 

  • Provides great resident care
  • Observes residents and notes physical condition, attitude, reactions, appetite, etc., and reports unusual findings to charge nurse.
  • Answers resident call lights and determines how to best help them
  • Provides physical support for residents with daily activities and person hygiene including bathing, dressing, using the toilet, walking, standing and exercising
  • Records vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperatures and respiration rates as requested by staff
  • Assists with restorative and rehabilitative care of residents and instructions in self help.
  • Treats resident information as confidential material.
  • Charts all required information on forms and nurse’s notes and signs entries.
  • Orients and teaches new personnel routine operations and duties.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate.
  • Completion of State Certified Nurse’s Aide course and passing Iowa approved competency exam.
  • Previous experience in hospital or nursing home desirable.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work as a part of a team
  • Strong sense of responsibility.
  • Sincere desire to work with the aged.
  • Well groomed, courteous, tactful, patient, kind and pleasant when dealing with residents and staff.
  • Dependable and reliable
  • Ability to cooperate with other personnel.
  • Ability to anticipate needs and moods of geriatric residents helpful.
