Description

This position will be responsible for promoting and selling 3M product in our top accounts and supporting all Stellar locations and Account Managers to gain market share through the application of their knowledge and experience. The ideal candidate will have experience with abrasives, adhesives, specialty tapes, and/or personal safety products as well as outside sales experience. The position requires travel to support local branches, regional travel, and factory training and conferences.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop, troubleshoot, and recommend applications of 3M product.
  • Serve as a liaison between the company and 3M.
  • Build a strong relationship with fabrication/manufacturing and other facilities and understand their needs from a technical standpoint.
  • Significantly contribute to new business development and profitability growth by working with the outside sales team and Stellar locations.
  • Develop and maintain a balanced pipeline of customer prospects through networking, referrals, research, and cold calling.
  • Understand 3M/Safety applications, provide customers with alternative solutions, and assist Stellar locations with associated product crossovers.
  • Secure orders and opportunities to quote on customer requirements from existing and potential customers.
  • Establishing professional relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Identify top conversion opportunities and execute plan to work jointly with 3M to win the business.
  • Develop working knowledge of 3M Industrial and Safety product lines.
  • Share 3M information within the company including product training and demonstrations, marketing assets and resources, new product introductions (NPI), product updates, and promotions and campaigns.
  • Host and facilitate monthly internal training focused on 3M products.
  • Enter all sales and pipeline activity in company CRM system (SalesForce).
  • Entering Documented Cost Savings (DCS) on a daily or weekly basis.
  • Stay up-to-date on 3M product knowledge and application.
  • Participate in training sessions, in-person and virtually with 3M.
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for providing and maintaining high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Respond to changing market conditions that contributes to long term sustainability.
  • Perform other tasks and projects as dictated by business and as requested.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and experience with 3M product is preferred, but not required
  • Aptitude to learn more about 3M products and applications
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
  • Comfortable working in a sales-driven environment
  • Proficient using latest technology (CRM, smartphone, laptop)
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates attention to detail
  • Analytical ability to synthesize complex or diverse information

 

Education

  • College degree or equivalent work experience

Experience

  • Outside sales experience preferred, but not required
