NAC is seeking hardworking, mechanically inclined individuals to join our Rough Mill Production team! If you enjoy working with your hands, then this role is for you. You will assist in the production of linear milling, by cutting, ripping and gluing domestic hardwoods. The valued work you produce in milling will be used to manufacture custom windows, doors, stairs, and moldings! Imagine the satisfaction you will feel by contributing to the creation of someone's custom piece. 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
    • Perform all job operations in a safe manner in accordance with company safety policies.
    • Assist in coordination of lumber and necessary materials for linear Rough Mill Production: cut, rip and glue domestic hardwoods. 
    • Ability to communicate information.
    • Responsible and accountable.  Pays attention to detail.
    • Report all damaged material to the APD shop supervisor so that it may be recorded, in order to maintain accurate inventory records.  Mark damaged material with label supplied by the foreman any damaged special order material should be brought to the supervisor's attention to be reordered.
    • Maintain machinery and tools in the department and work with facilities as needed for PM service. Keep a log of all service performed.
    • Assist in the shop housekeeping so that production runs smoothly i.e.:  sweeping, storing, cleaning, using the necessary equipment.                     
    • When needed employee will operate a forklift in a safe manner (if certified)

Required Education and Experience
    • High School diploma, Vocational School or general education degree (GED)
    • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language with highly developed oral and written communication skills
    • Prior experience in Lean manufacturing practices and 5S principles
    • Hand and power tools experience standard to the carpentry field (see list below)
    • Strong mathematical and mechanical skills.
    • Wood species knowledge.
    • Wood working machine and process knowledge.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Quality oriented.
    • Ability to use measuring devices such as a tape measure and transfer them to a production piece within 1/32'
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables and standardized situations
    • Must be able to work overtime when needed and some Saturdays to satisfy production schedule demands
    • Must have prior experience in finish carpentry or assembly of finished wood products for the end user
    • Knowledge of general safety guidelines in carpentry or construction field
    • Experience working in a team environment
    • Prior Forklift and material handling experience

    • Must take and pass post-offer screening drug test, physical and consent to a background check
    • Standing/Walking: 8 hours repetitive on feet on concrete floor
    • Stooping/Reaching/Bending: continuous to gather items and fabricate
    • Overhead Lift: up to 30 lbs. without assistance and up to 60 lbs. w/ assistance.
    • Lift/Grasp: with dominant hands and fingers up to 75 lbs. without assistance and up to 150 lbs. with assistance holding woodworking or steel components in fabrication
    • Carry/Grasp: with dominant hands and fingers up to 50 lbs. without assistance and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
    • Push/Pull: with dominant hands rolling carts of interior door products up to 1000 lbs. without assistance and up to 1500lbs. with assistance
    • Vision: must see near and far sighted
    • Hearing: must hear machinery sounds
Work Environment
    • Shop warehouse building
    • Must be able to work in varied temperature hot or cold depending on the weather and how it effects the shop temperature
    • Extended work day. Must be able to work overtime when needed and some Saturdays to satisfy production schedule demands
