Trinity Rail is hiring a 2nd shift Lead Welder at our Jonesboro plant.

The Lead welder position is a great opportunity for a resilient, team-minded individual who does not stray away from a challenge. As a member of the Mechanical team at Trinity, you'll use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders and use manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.  Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and perform minor maintenance to equipment while acting as a welding subject matter expert.

 

Responsibilities:

What you'll do:

 

  • Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches using manual, automatic welding, and/or semi-automatic welding equipment
  • Will layout and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies
  • Will position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Will inspect completed work for conformance to specifications
  • Observe all standard safety practices and maintains and competes all required records
  • Acts as subject matter expert
  • Coach & train lower-level Welders
  • Hand weld in all positions, groove and fillit
  • Perform repairs to subassemblies for final product
  • Oxy Fuel
  • Carbon Arc
  • Make welds to stainless and carbon steel may repair aluminum
  • TIG welding (stainless & aluminum) performs full welds to subassemblies and to tank
  •  May conduct multiple NDE tests
  • Lead team by assigning tasks
  • Assist in completion of all tasks to meet deadlines
  • Maintain and improves quality
  • Follows all safety rules and practices
  • Will be involved in safety committees or initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Will perform as Level 4 plus Welder

  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years of related experience
