Job Description
The CNC Machinist is responsible for job method planning, setting-up, programming, operating machine tools, performing assembly and disassembly tasks, performing measurements and making shop sketches for use in production or for record purposes, and performing inspections with little or no assistance or supervision.
Some CNC Machinist are also responsible for design activities. Those CNC Machinists must possess the skill/ability to determine and translate deign inputs into shop-ready design outputs.
A CNC Machinist must be able to understand verbal and written instructions and demonstrate ability to perform typical tasks assigned to a CNC Machinist. The basic skills and competencies necessary to perform typical tasks assigned to a CNC Machinist include
o proficiency in all the requirements for a Machine Operator
o ability to set-up, program, and operate equipment
o ability to work directly from routing sheets and drawings to perform assigned tasks
o knowledge and understanding of the equipment in the specialization area including its required preventive and corrective maintenance
o 5-Axis Machining experience set-up and programming not required but is beneficial
o MasterCam or other CAD/CAM experience is required
CNC machinist will have to have the ability to run a variety of materials from plastics to high temp alloys such as Inconel 718. The CNC machinist will have the opportunity to manufacture a variety of parts from multiple industries from automotive support tooling and gauging to flight hardware for the aerospace and military industries.
