SalaryPOSITION TITLE: Machine Helper
REPORTS TO:2nd Shift Converting Supervisor
SUMMARY
Responsible for various activities associated with nonspecialized work in the corrugated box plant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read and follow instructions as provided by the supervisor.
- Works together and effectively communicates with the machine center crew/team as a helper.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Safely helps with maximizing piece-rate speed on orders assigned.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must have familiarization with knowing how to use a measuring tape.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical arithmetic (Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and converting decimals to fractions)
- Must be able to Cross-train to other machine center helper positions as necessary.
- Complete necessary reports accurately and in a timely manner, including, but not limited to, Production Data, Safety Data, and Quality Data.
- Turn in equipment work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
- Must take a proactive approach to the maintenance of equipment.
- Switch duties with First Helper/Asst. Operator as necessary.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and maintaining good housekeeping.
- Adheres to the production schedule and makes recommendations for optimizing it to meet cost, quality, and service goals.
- Must be able to work the scheduled shift with the occasional mandatory overtime.
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Forklift Operations is desired.
- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
- Prior work experience in a fulfillment operation.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read, write, communicate efficiently, and follow instructions from factory masters.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, squat, and swivel. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to hot and/or humid as well as cold conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, louder than normal environments, and a high-paced atmosphere.
