The Neighborhood Charter Network (NCN) is a grassroots organization that launched in 2016 in order to manage a growing family of schools in Indianapolis, IN. The mission of The Neighborhood Charter Network is to expand educational equity to the communities we serve.
Job Summary:
The Special Education Aide/Paraprofessional is responsible for facilitating learning in an environment that supports the Neighborhood Charter’s Network’s students with special needs.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers with instructing students with special needs in academic subjects, using a variety of techniques, such as phonetics, multisensory learning, or repetition to reinforce learning and meet students' varying needs, per their Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s).
- Employs special education instructional strategies and best practices.
- Teaches socially acceptable behavior, as determined by the students’ individualized education programs (IEPs) by employing techniques in an overall positive behavioral support system.
- Assists teachers with modifying the general education curriculum and provides accommodations for students with disabilities based upon a variety of instructional techniques and technologies.
- Provides crisis intervention, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree, 60 college credit hours, or a valid Paraprofessional p\Praxis Certification
- At least 1+ years of experience working with children
- Bilingual - Spanish
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 1+ years of crisis intervention experience
- At least 1+ years of experience working with children with disabilities
