Job Description
The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals.
The Software Engineering Intern will work within the Human Health Insights, Analytics and Data area to contribute to development of our advanced data science application platform. We are realizing the vision of a cohesive commercial decision support suite, helping stakeholders make data-driven decisions to optimize delivery of our product to patients.
The Software Engineering intern will have the opportunity to solve complex problems, collaborate with team members in and across the teams. You will contribute to designing and developing a software solution and collaborate through to successful delivery. You will deliver on schedule, using appropriate technologies and current Software Engineering best practices. Communication is an integral part of this role; you will engage with stakeholders on planning and communication of project deliverables. In the event of problems, you are able to troubleshoot, research the root cause, thoroughly resolve defects whilst maintain ongoing communication with stakeholders and customers.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, implement, test, and document distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services. Translate functional requirements into robust, efficient, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture. Participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery, and maintenance. Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation. Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools.
Education Minimum Requirements:
  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or higher education in computer science, data science, information science, computational science, engineering or related field.
  • Candidates must have completed two (2) years of studies towards a Bachelor's degree by June 2024

Required experience and skills:
  • Highly proficient in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, C++, Go, C#, TypeScript etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, object-oriented programming, design, and analysis of algorithms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide in-depth evaluation and analysis of unique complex technological issues.

Preferred experience and skills:
  • Experience with designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services.
  • Good understanding with the application of security principles in cloud services development.
  • Experience working with data extraction systems and data processing technologies such as Airflow, Spark, Kafka, etc. Experience in working with Amazon Web Services technologies such as EC2, S3, Redshift, and EMR.
  • Exposure and understanding of machine learning lifecycle, data science algorithms such as advanced statistical methods, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing (NLP) modeling and model evaluation is a plus.

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:
$39,600.00-$105,500.00

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.
