This position will be based in our Company's Global Commercial Human Health division where we partner with colleagues from across all geographies and divisions to help serve our patients and customers around the globe. This position is a hands-on role working within our Impact Assessment and Investment Optimization team. The intern will use and apply data to produce actionable insights that drive greater customer and market comprehension to inform brand strategy. They will be an integral part in helping to support commercial use cases that create data-driven decisions. The preferred candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to produce actionable insights from analytics.
Day-to-day, a project could involve literature surveys, writing code, and comparing analytical techniques. You will apply cutting-edge analysis to gain actionable insights from our numerous internal marketing data sets and then will communicate your results and recommendations to teammates.
We'll look to you to identify required data sources for a given initiative and we'll also lean on you to call out risks with applying different data science methods on our product outputs. Some reporting and visualization skills will come in handy too. Experience with common pharmaceutical datasets or the life science commercial space is a plus. Coursework in Machine Learning and advanced statistics will be a benefit.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Select statistical, Machine Learning, optimization techniques to solve business problems and support leadership in prioritizing what to build and setting realistic goals for execution
  • Mine and analyze data, leveraging advanced analytical/statistical techniques from disparate databases/sources to drive optimization and improvement of commercial marketing strategies
  • Quickly utilize and become comfortable with the companies organizational and technical set up
  • Bring in the latest best practices being taught in academia
  • Be able to report out the work you're performing, telling a data story
  • Contribute to innovative experiments by thinking through the technical solution with your colleagues
  • Ability to manage up and provide updates on progress to manager

Education Minimum Requirements:
  • BA degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related quantitative field
  • Active enrollment in an accredited MS or PhD University program is required

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Some experience in Applied Machine Learning, and applying Machine Learning to small and large datasets
  • 1-2 years experience or previous coursework with scripting languages (e.g. python)
  • Previous experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL)
  • Self-motivation and proactivity are highly desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to communicate appropriately and confidently with colleagues from different backgrounds

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Previous undergraduate Internship experience in cross-functional data teams is preferred.
  • Experience with marketing mix modeling, causal inference, A/B testing, or synthetic controls is a plus

Under New York City, Colorado State, Washington State, and California State law, the Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected salary range:
$39,600.00-$105,500.00
