Job Description:
- Program Dates: The 2024 internship program will begin on May 20th, 2024, and end on August 9th, 2024.
- Internship Hours: Up to 27 hours/week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; some departments vary.
- Pay Range: $14 per hour up to $20 per hour (graduate/ master's student), based on your credit hours earned.
A Bikeway and Pedestrian Master Plan is needed to compile a detailed inventory of the existing bicycle and sidewalk circulation system, identify deficiencies, and prioritize projects and funding opportunities to improve the bikeway and pedestrian circulation system connectivity. The inventory collection and gap analysis will inform the master plan in future to identify priority projects for implementation of pedestrian and bike infrastructure such as sidewalks, crossing facilities, shared-use paths, and bike lanes including upgrades required to accommodate growth and/or corridor continuity.
Department Responsibilities:
- Analyze existing inventory in GIS database and other sources to compile a single GIS data source.
- On-site data collection and checking currency and accuracy of existing pedestrian and bike infrastructure datasets using GIS platform.
- Gap analysis and identification and developing GIS database using desktop and site collection methods.
- Prioritize Quick-win short-term implementation projects by assisting to populate a matrix developed by Traffic Engineering Division team.
- A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program.

About You
- High school diploma, or equivalent (if applicable)
- Eligible to work in the United States - we love local, national, and international students!
- Currently seeking a diploma or degree through an accredited secondary or post-secondary educational program, or within 12 months after graduation.
