Evidence Generation, Medical Affairs
Summary:
Medical Evidence Generation provides clinically relevant data that increases confidence with clinicians and patients in the expected benefits and risk of treatment with Ionis' medicines and facilitates treatment and better health for all appropriate patients. A 2024 intern on our team will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally on several Evidence Generation projects across therapeutic areas. The intern will have the opportunity to learn about and leverage a wide array of publicly available resources and internal databases. Further, he/she will have opportunities to join team activities and meetings with the Medical Evidence Generation team and our cross-functional partners, such as Clinical Development, Market Access, Portfolio Planning and Market Insights, Health Economics and Outcomes Research.

Responsibilities:

• Search the literature for epidemiological studies on conditions of interest to Ionis and summarize these studies - The intern will use Embase, PubMed and Google Scholar to conduct literature searches; Abstract identified data elements in a systematic fashion; Curate articles; Add relevant information to Ionis' Epi Hub
• Participate in study design for registries and other Medical Affairs studies - The intern will provide background research needed to inform studies; Review and/or develop data elements for these studies; Provide input into study methodology
• Study database development - The intern will participate in study database development and data collection; Utilize internal databases to perform queries on conditions of interest

Requirements:

• MUST be currently enrolled in a U.S. Graduate Degree Program (Masters or Doctoral) with a focus on outcomes research, biostatistics, data science or epidemiology and not graduating prior to the completion of the Ionis internship MUST be able to begin internship between 6/11 and 6/17/2024
• MUST be able and willing to remain in program through at least 8/16/2024
• MUST be able and willing to commit to a minimum 40-hour work week
• This position will be Remote

The pay scale for this position is $18 to $23 per hour.
