Overview

The Outsourced Accounting Staff role is responsible for applying their technical skills and organizing and managing client assignments and projects, including the completion of assignment tasks and project components and meeting client expectations. In particular, you will handle multiple client engagements at any one time, and will perform duties such as preparing and compilation financial statement engagements, full scope general ledger processing including: payables/receivables processing, bank reconciliations, recording bank and credit card activity, vendor inquiries, processing deposits and recording journal entries. Your work will include month end/quarter end closing procedures on multiple clients. Your work will be closely supervised through coaching and training, and you can expect to receive hands-on guidance from the senior, manager, or principal in charge of the engagement. You will receive extensive internal and external training on technical and soft skills, teamwork, and the firm's systems, operations, and relationships. The firm expects you to demonstrate flexibility, have a willingness to seek out advice, and exhibit an ambition for learning. We anticipate that after a year you will be able to perform increasingly complex functions with little or no direct supervision.

 

After gaining appropriate experience, you should see significant client contact, more complex technical challenges and beginning supervisory responsibilities. While demonstrated technical competence is necessary, you should also demonstrate human relations skills in dealing with supervised staff, supervisors, firm members, client personnel, and the public. Responsibilities
  • Perform attestation work including compilation and preparing financial statement engagements 
  • Perform month end/quarter end closes for multiple client engagements, including maintenance of prepaids, accruals, depreciation and other GAAP accounting adjustments. 
  • Assist our professional team in preparing GAAP work papers, trial balances. 
  • Apply basic GAAP accounting and work through more complex GAAP accounting with assistance from supervisor. 
  • Process payables for multiple clients and produce payable reports/checks with approval 
  • Process/maintain receivables for multiple clients and make deposits 
  • Record bank and credit card transactional activity in QuickBooks. 
  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain/monitor cash balances. 
  • Know and understand the reason for the firm's policies and procedures 
  • Establish effective work schedules 
  • Build and nurture strong working relationships with clients 
  • Work as an effective team member to complete project components and assignment tasks 
  • Actively participate in meetings as a member of the Outsourced Accounting team. 
Qualifications
  • Minimum BA/BS degree in Accounting
  • Ability to be a team player with a positive approach 
  • Strong computer skills 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required 
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple on-going assignments 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Relevant work experience a plus 

 

Compensation Details

The base salary range targeted for this role is $60,000 - $70,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
