AFROTC Instructor - Blue Springs High School - 2024-25
Summary: Full-time Air Force ROTC Instructor for Blue Springs High School for the 2024-25 school year. Teach the Aerospace Science portion of the curriculum in a positive classroom environment. You will be working with a professional staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curricular goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects. Clearly communicates these objectives to students.
Instructs drill and ceremonies, principles of leadership and management, and communication skills.
Assists in teaching Leadership Education . All AFJROTC instructors are deeply involved in their communities. They serve as a liaison between the Air Force and civilian agencies in the aerospace field.
Assess students through tests, give career and performance counseling, and supervise cadet corps activities.
Involved in enrollment and extracurricular activities. Responsible for uniforms and equipment.
Communicates regularly with parents outside normal school day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conference, etc.
The instructor, though not on active duty, is still working in and managing a military-type unit.
Participates in professional growth activities and follow the policies and procedures of the school district.
Qualifications: Must hold a minimum of a bachelor degree. Applicant must be permanently retired as an Officer with at least 20 years of active duty; retired five years or less from the effective date of employment. Officers still on active duty may apply when within six months of a fixed retirement date or terminal leave date.
Must hold ROTC teaching certificate through the Department of Elementary and SecondaryEducationorapplyfortemporaryauthorizationcertificatewhichwouldrequire additional coursework.
Desirable prerequisites: Experience working with High School age students.
