Position Description:
The Beaverton School District is accepting applications for a Summer School High School Newcomer teacher in the Multilingual Department.
The High School Newcomer Health teacher provides thoughtful and authentic learning experiences for students served at the district's Newcomer Center. Further, they support the development of Health and language curriculum that fosters the health and well-being of students through inquiry-based learning. The High School Newcomer Health Teacher will work closely with the Newcomer team.
Details of Position
Work Time Period: July 3-27 2023 (Excluding Fridays and the 4th of July Holiday)
Pay: Per Diem Rate Based on 2023-24 Pay Scale
Required Qualifications: Current TSPC teaching license with endorsement in the assigned subject area.
Summary of Position
5 work hours each day: Co-teach four one hour classes with the NC ELD teacher each M-W, including paraeducators for language support, plus attend the field trips.
Additional plan/prep/training hours: 10 hours before + 5 hours afterwards. (15 total)
Additional hours for curriculum development: 25 hours
Location: Beaverton High School
Monday through Thursday 7/3/23 - 7/27/23 (15 days)
Monday through Wednesday will be in the classroom providing content instruction;
Thursday participate in community field trips for hands-on learning allowing students to create meaningful, personal connections that will reinforce their knowledge.
Class sizes: 15 - 18 students
Student Times: 8:00 - 12:00 and lunch
