2023 Summer Intern Program - Biometrics Efficacy Analysis and Simulations

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a summer student to simulate the data based on the several study designs and implement various efficacy analysis to exam the impacts of the data from various treatment groups on data variabilities and p-values. The student will study the trial design, construct computer programs using either SAS or R or other adequate computer languages, generate simulated data based on the multiple cohort study design, and perform analysis of variance or analysis of covariance on the simulated data. The student will generate multiple models based on various variabilities and compare the statistical analysis results to illustrate quantitatively the impacts of multiple treatment groups on efficacy results, including variabilities and p-values.

REQUIREMENTS:

• MUST be currently enrolled in a U.S. Undergraduate Degree Program and not graduating prior to the completion of the Ionis internship
• MUST be able to begin internship between 6/6 and 6/12/2023
• MUST be able and willing to remain in the program through at least 8/18/2023
• MUST be able and willing to commit to a minimum 40-hour workweek
• This assignment will require a highly motivated and mature individual who is able to work successfully independently and within a team. Excellent mathematical, computer science, and statistical background is required (three years' college education, seven semesters of math, statistics, data science, or computer science classes).
• Solid programming skills (SAS or R) are required, and experience in experimental design and simulation is preferred.
• This individual will need to be productive both on-site and remote and must possess great discipline, excellent communication skills, and a desire to learn.

The pay scale for this position is $18 to $23 per hour.
