Click Here http://www.mo.nesinc.com/TestView.aspx?f=HTML_FRAG/SA001_TestPage.html Paraprofessional - Reading Tutor The job of Paraprofessional - Reading Tutor is done for the purpose/s of providing individual literacy support to K-3 grade students within established curriculum guidelines; assessing students reading skills; supervising students; collaborating with other staff members; and responding to a wide range of inquiries regarding student progress.

This job reports to Principal - Elementary School Essential Functions Applies various scripted reading interventions in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency for the purpose of improving student literacy skills and addressing individual student needs. Assists with selecting appropriate scripted reading interventions for caseload students for the purpose of ensuring individual student needs are met. Collaborates with instructional staff and other school personnel for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achieving established program objectives.

Conducts student literacy benchmark assessments in the fall, winter and spring, and assesses weekly progress for the purpose of selecting students for the program and exiting them once goals are achieved. Confers with other staff members for the purpose of assisting in evaluating student progress. Escorts students (e.g.

office, library, classroom, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and safe arrival to and from destination. Maintains a variety of confidential and non confidential documents and records for the purpose of providing up to date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established state mandated guidelines. Maintains a variety of written materials (e.g.

grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements. Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

Provides individual literacy support to K-3 grade students within established curriculum guidelines for the purpose of focusing on preventing reading failure and ensuring all students are reading on grade level by third grade. Provides consistent interaction with students for the purpose of educating students. Responds to inquires from a variety of sources (e.g.

other teachers, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction. Other Functions Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand complex, multi-step written andoral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate policies, regulations and/or laws; stages of child development; effective reading interventiontechniques and strategies; and behavioral management strategies.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize job-related equipment.

Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing and maintaining constructive relationships; adapting to changing work priorities; maintaining confidentiality; and exhibiting tact and patience.

ResponsibilityResponsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organization's services.

Work EnvironmentThe usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 34% sitting, 33% walking, and 33% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Experience: Job related experience is desired. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Equivalency: Associate's Degree preferred.
