Position Objective and Summary

If you are a production Printing Press Operator looking to utilize your expert skillset with a global established company in the carton packaging industry; consider a career opportunity to join Graphic Packaging Int'l, LLC., a leading provider of sustainable paper-based packaging solutions for a wide variety of products to food, beverage, foodservice, and other consumer product companies.

We are looking for a Printing Press Operator to run a Hamilton six-color web offset press with in-line cutting. This new member of our team will be in charge of the daily operation of the press, inclusive of directing and leading a crew in the most efficient manner possible for the production of printed materials from start to the finish of a final quality product that exceeds our customer's expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • In charge of the entire operation of the press and lead production crew.
  • Set up scheduled jobs/make-readies:
    • Make sure die numbers, copy, and code numbers are checked.
    • Make sure all materials from previous job are removed before beginning new run.
  • Quality:
    • Check internal register and be able to fix registration issues that may arise
    • Maintain and check color using densitometer
    • Watch and check carton's often for color variations, increase the cut, coating, and any other defects.
    • Make sure production order is checked for quality.
  • Visual of Press components:
    • Detect problems with the color or coding, troubleshoot and fix problems, if possible, without disrupting the run. Detect blanket smashes or tears, plate sensitivity, worn out plates, lines in the plate, cracked plates, etc. Troubleshoot cause if needed.
  • Delivery:
    • Be able to adjust belt speeds, ejectors, etc., to delivery to coincide with the constant change and curl of the board. Adjust settings in the delivery to ensure a straight tight stack for delivery to the robot.
  • Robot:
    • Oversee and troubleshoot any problems that might arise in the infeed conveyor, stacking and outfeed conveyors.
  • Ensure SAP/PEAK recordkeeping.
  • Train new crew members.
  • Assist with any problems others are having and use that time as a teaching moment for training.
  • Notify supervisor of any problems with press, ink, board, plates, or personnel.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Qualification Requirements:

  • Demonstrate expertise of press equipment and the processes.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work orders to produce a finished product for customers.
  • Provide leadership to crew members ample forming quality printing and meeting manufacturing goals.
  • Ability to perform quality checks and make press adjustments accordingly.
  • Perform appropriate preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot problems: explain problem, cause, effect, and fix.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Five plus years of experience in production printing.
