Position Summary:
The Janitor I will have janitorial duties as well as operation and special events responsibilities. Working with the Housekeeper and the Operation Specialist will ensure that La Fayette is a clean and a safe environment for residents and their families.
Essential Functions:
Janitorial:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for residents and staff.
- Spot clean carpets when necessary.
- Strip, buff, and wax and/or shampoo and vacuum the first, second, and third floors, childcare, and kitchen/dining room area as needed.
- Store and maintain cleaning equipment.
- Maintain playgrounds, front and back of property.
- Wash property fencing and railing on a regular rotation.
- Report any inappropriate behavior on the grounds to the Program Coordinator.
- Perform housekeeping duties as needed.
Operation:
- Pick up, deliver, and store supplies as needed.
- Organize and maintain all assigned storage areas.
- Maintain the vehicles, fill up gas tanks, report repairs as needed.
- Assist all departments in transportation as needed.
Special Events:
- Assist on special events, community events, classes, and meetings in setting up and breaking down.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or management personnel.
Working Conditions:
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as brooms and floor cleaning equipment, and reach overhead. Ability to operate floor cleaning equipment, blower, lawn mower, and paint sprayer. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School education or equivalent.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
- Minimum one-year experience in housekeeping and grounds maintenance.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.
- Flexibility of hours.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Knowledge of proper usage of cleaning chemicals as complying with Cal/OSHA regulations.
- Knowledge in housekeeping.
- Drivers license, ability to drive company vehicle.
