What work will you perform?

We are seeking an IBMi technical leader who will support the IBMi roadmap at Landstar.  The manager has responsibility for ensuring day-to-day administrative tasks are complete and accurate, including all KPMI metrics, system backups, reports, and distribution, operational applications, and general end-user support. You will manage operations across all shifts within assigned IBMi data center system(s) using various system tools.  You will directly supervise three operations employees providing regular feedback and direction for their performance and development. 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Management responsibilities for a team to include training, performance appraisals, and hiring
  • Responsible for daily operations of itemized administrative tasks   
  • Demonstrate effective leadership by establishing staff goals and objectives
  • Manage and maintain a cohesive disaster preparedness plan for the IBMi
  • Perform basic programming using IBM control language to troubleshoot automated tasks
  • Work daily with department Director to improve overall health of operational system
  • Monitor all user access accounts and security levels as defined by policy
  • Monitor all SOX404 controls, procedures, and supporting evidence (reports)
  • Comply with all departmental and company policies and procedures
  • Assists with the establishment and maintenance of a departmental budget as needed

 

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5 years of progressive administration experience managing multiple IBMi partitions
  • 5 years of experience with all IBMi OS400 operating system admin commands
  • 3 years of experience conducting root cause analysis of all system task errors
  • 2 years of experience with TCP/IP configuration and routing
  • 2 years of experience writing CLLE programs

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience
  • 1 year of experience with IBMi performance tuning using IBM iDoctor software
  • 1 year of experience reading or writing with the RPGLE programming language

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to solve complex problems with incomplete work instructions
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Ability to meet deadlines established by management
