The school was founded on the idea that children have different interests and learning styles, and that they progress at different rates. The high school program provides personal attention and faculty support for students as they develop greater independence over these four years. The academic year is divided into two semesters (Long Terms I and II) of approximately 15 weeks each and two short terms (A and B), each four weeks long.

During the long terms, students attend six classes on a modified block schedule that cover the five traditional disciplines with one elective. The short terms are designed to allow intensive study in a particular area of the curriculum.
