Responsibilities
Reporting to the Write-Up Supervisor, the Write-Up Inspector performs thorough inbound railcar inspections, comprehensive and accurate estimate package submissions, and supports plant production.
- Inspect and create estimate packages for completeness and accuracy
- Perform preprocess research
- Ensure estimates are complete to meet production demand
- Interface with engineering, car owners and customers for repair instructions (contract review)
- Verify the incorporation of supplemental repairs into final Billing Repair Card (BRC)
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of supplemental repairs
Working Conditions:
- Climb ladders to heights of approximately 14 ft. high, bend, stoop, stretch, lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. to set up tables and/or to attach to tank cars.
- Enter tank cars via a manway opening approximately 20 inches in diameter.
- Be able to tolerate both heights and confined spaces.
- Have keen visual and audio acuity to recognize various shop danger warning signals to avoid injuries and promote a safe working environment.
- Possess considerable stamina to perform the essential functions over a large geographical plant area.
- Ability and availability to work considerable overtime hours that may often be required,
- Be willing and able to wear safety equipment such as, but not limited to: safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hats, earplugs, and respirators.
