This position is based in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The ideal candidate is a driven individual in pursuit of excellence, who values communication, diverse viewpoints, and can be good leader in an influence-based team environment. The candidate should know PC hardware architectures inside and out and have enough software/firmware skills to analyze and debug system performance issues. This is an execution focused hands-on position that will also be responsible for measuring and reporting on system performance, then giving feedback to other teams on how to improve our customers experience. Responsibilities
- Become the person known in the organization as one of the experts in performance.
- Understand the architectures of our Z workstation solutions from a performance perspective. This includes shipping products, products in development, and tracking future product architectures. Workstation solutions go beyond the hardware - to include components (like storage or networking), external accessories, the compute environments (e.g. cloud, data center, edge, desktop, clusters, etc.).
- Innovate by coming up with ideas that will improve the customer experience around performance and differentiate HP.
- Partner with other R&D teams and technical architects to insure HP solutions are differentiated on performance and we meet customer performance experience objectives.
- Using standard and proprietary benchmarks, as well as leading applications used by customers - measure, analyze, and report on the performance of workstations solutions in all stages of development. In addition, measure, analyze, compare, and report on the performance of competitive workstation solutions.
- Provide technical support for performance issues reported by our customers by working through our support & quality organization and, if asked, directly with customers.
- Trouble shoot performance issues using both hardware and software skills. Possibly write regression tests to catch problems in advance.
- Create and execute performance test plans aligned with program objectives and release criteria.
- Be able to learn how to install, configure, and run leading applications used by our customers to either reproduce problems, or, analyze workload mix in order to provide feedback for future technical planning.
- Define & track performance metrics for future data-driven decision making.
- Partner with marketing to provide any performance data needed for product marketing launch, messaging, & claims.
- Work in a hybrid environment that combines both in the office and work from home environments, as appropriate to the job.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or significant equivalent experience.
- 3-7 years of engineering experience working directly with PC HW architectures and system performance.
- The technical skills and knowledge required to perform the responsibilities of the job.
- Proven ability to work effectively and lead in a teamwork oriented environment.
- Proven ability to productively work with customers and partners.
- Experience managing complex technical issues and driving them to resolution.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- A love of technology and an insatiable curiosity to know how things work.
- Not afraid to take "ownership" of problems (runs to problems).
- An optimistic "can-do until proven otherwise" attitude.
- The capacity to anticipate and plan mitigations for potential problems and risks.
- A desire to be excellent in everything - but the ability to prioritize and make trade-offs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.

The estimated range of compensation for this job at the time of this posting is $110,000 - $130,000. This position may be eligible for incentive pay, for openings where this is applicable.
