DEPARTMENT INFORMATION: 

This student position will support the Global Engagement Office's mission of providing institutional leadership in shaping, supporting, and pursuing the University's goals for advancing comprehensive internationalization. Education Abroad at the University of Wyoming offers credit-bearing study abroad, exchange, research, and academic internship opportunities for University of Wyoming undergraduate and graduate students. Through over 400 programs in 80 countries, we offer a wide variety of program structures, lengths, terms and academic focuses to meet students' diverse needs and goals. These credit-bearing global learning opportunities form a crucial part of the UW experience and help prepare students for success in an increasingly interconnected world. This student position will support the Global Engagement Office's mission of providing institutional leadership in shaping, supporting, and pursuing the University's goals for advancing comprehensive internationalization.

  • Job location:  Cheney International Center

  • Pay rate or range: $12.00/hr

JOB PURPOSE: 

  • Education Abroad: Provide administrative and operational support for the Education Abroad Office.  The Education Abroad Office is located on the first floor of the Cheney International Center right next to Student Health as a result we receive a lot of walk-in traffic.  Part of this job would be managing the front office and directing all of the walk-in flow during the day.  Additionally, we welcome visitors (parents and high school students) for the Office of Admissions.
  • Global Engagement Office: Developing a marketing plan for Spring Semester 2023, help with developing and posting social media posts for an international community, assist with website development and editing, and support international events including campus visits from guest speakers and partner institutions.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Education Abroad:

  • Manage the uwyoabd@uwyo.edu email address:
    • Respond to emails regarding general Education Abroad questions
    • Schedule meetings with students (high school meetings, peer-advising, etc.)
    • Forward emails to respective faculty and staff within the Global Engagement Office
  • Professionally answer, respond to, and forward phone calls in the front office
  • Manage the schedules of Conference Rooms 024 and 129
  • Restock office supplies for the Education Abroad Office (i.e. copy paper, paper clips, pens, tape, staples, etc.)
  • Provide service to those who walk through the front doors of the Cheney International Center
  • Send UW promotional material to our exchange partner universities overseas
  • Complete projects for coordinators and advisors in the office on an as-need basis (utilizing Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Canva, YouTube/Vimeo, MailChimp, I: drive, etc.)
  • Meet with prospective University of Wyoming (UW) students to describe different education abroad opportunities available to them at UW
  • Pre-advise current UW students who show interest in education abroad by describing different program opportunities, exploring their study abroad options, and showing them how to begin the application process
    • Have a working knowledge of UWYO Education Abroad Programs with the willingness to learn as office functions adapt and change
  • Assist in marketing UWYO Abroad through social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.), through University of Wyoming emails/calendars, and through our main website
  • Coordinate and manage the UWYO Abroad Photo Contest in the fall and the UWYO Abroad Video contest in the spring
  • Send emails to Education Abroad students (prospective, current, and past) using MailChimp
    • Manage the email addresses of prospective Education Abroad students in the I:drive
    • Organize and input data based on this information                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Global Engagement Office
    •  Assist  the Assistant Director with social media posting
    •  Assist in marketing of programs and events
    •  Assist in editing of documents for web use

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: None
Other requirements: Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Education Abroad: Demonstrates excellence with Microsoft Office, Outlook Calendars, and phone etiquette. Experience working with diverse individuals. Ability to navigate the UW website.

Global Engagement:  Social media and event recording. A second language (includes Native American languages and ASL).
