Job Description
Wildcat Life Assistants serve as a resource to Student Life and all on-campus student clubs and organizations performing general office duties and assisting to further engage students. Wildcat Life Assistants promote and market all campus programming and activities in the Student Life Office as needed. Pandemic Safety Ambassadors support WNC's COVID-19 risk mitigation strategy and serve as a resource to individuals visiting the Office of Student Life. Ambassadors maintain the Student Life inventory of supplies needed to mitigate COVID-19 and assist with the cleaning and disinfection procedures that are performed by individuals in the area. Ambassadors model best practices to help keep our community healthy and safe.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Provide excellent customer service and excel at communicating with others.
2. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
3. Exhibit leadership, initiative, dependability, discipline and enthusiasm.
4. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Google Docs a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Experience working in a Student Life Office preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Welcome and greet the public at the Student Center and around campus.
2. Provide various services and referrals to the campus.
3. Develop an expanded knowledge of Western Nevada College.
4. Conduct campus tours for new students, schools, classes, and guests.
5. Represent Western Nevada College during college events.
6. Assist with duties and tasks related to events put on by various Western Nevada College departments, clubs and organizations.
7. Work with diverse populations and provide tips on being a successful student.
8. Connect students to faculty, academic advisors, staff, and college resources.
9. Encourage involvement in college clubs/organizations and campus events.
10. Promote and enhance the marketing efforts of all programming and events for WNC students.
11. Maintain the Student Center service areas appearance and professionalism.
12. Assist with a variety of office related tasks.
COVID Compliance Ambassador
Monitor adherence to pandemic mitigation measures by individuals in the area. For example, wearing of face coverings, practicing physical distancing and not congregating unnecessarily.
Inform visitors on current COVID-19 safety requirements.
Identify any high-touch surfaces that are not cleaned by custodial staff, including but not limited to service counters, shared computer lab equipment, game consoles, game tables, and break area surfaces.
Monitor that the high-touch surfaces remain cleaned and disinfected on established schedules.
Assist with sanitizing all areas of Student Life to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Ensure that soap and water, and hand sanitizer remain available for hand hygiene.
Maintain the Student Life inventory of the supplies necessary to mitigate COVID-19: face coverings, cleaning products, gloves, and required PPE for assigned tasks.
Monitor PPE supplies in Student Life and re-fill as needed.
Provide a face covering for anyone in the Student Life area that does not have a self-supplied face covering.
Demonstrate proper health hygiene and be a role model for WNC's health rules:
  • Whether indoors or outdoors, practice physical distancing by keeping at least six feet of distance between yourself and others whenever possible.
  • Wear your face covering.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly and often.
  • If you need to cough or sneeze, do so in a disposable tissue or your bended elbow.
  • If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.
  • Frequently clean high-touch surfaces within your area, like your desk and office doorknob using the supplied materials.
  • Try to use your elbow on high-touch public surfaces, like elevator buttons or push-open doors.
  • Limit the time you spend with others in small spaces like bathrooms and elevators.
