Job Description: Are you a scientist who is motivated by hands-on habitat restoration? Do you enjoy working on small, high-performance teams with other conservation-minded professionals? Creek Lands Conservation (CLC) seeks an experienced, results-oriented scientist to join our watershed conservation science team in the role of Watershed Restoration Scientist. Reporting to the Science Director, the Watershed Restoration Scientist conducts technical work, oversees and collaborates with staff and consultants, develops and manages restoration projects, manages project budgets, implements restoration projects, and secures project funding with support from the Development Director. The Watershed Restoration Scientist develops and implements restoration plans and projects for coastal watersheds in alignment with CLC’s Strategic Plan. The preferred candidate will be a strong interdisciplinary scientist, have project management experience, and have strong fiscal management and leadership skills. The Watershed Restoration Scientist works collaboratively and supports CLC’s purpose and values.


About Creek Lands Conservation: Founded in 1983, CLC focuses on California Central Coast watersheds from Monterey to Ventura and employs seven full-time staff in science-based ecosystem restoration work and conservation science education. While CLC works in a range of ecosystems, aquatic freshwater ecosystems are a focal point of CLC’s work. CLC works with a wide variety of collaborators, including five Resource Conservation Districts, ranchers and farmers, local / state / federal government agencies, non-governmental agencies, universities, and various other stakeholder groups. CLC is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) governed by a board of directors, operated by a professional staff, and supported by its members and volunteers. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have 6 years of experience working in a science-related role in the field of ecological restoration. At minimum they will have earned a Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in environmental or related sciences. They will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, data analytical skills, financial management skills, and at least 3 years' experience in project management. They will be willing to learn CLC's management procedures and to work collaboratively across disciplines as needed.
