PRCS- Creating Community through People, Parks and Programs
Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a part-time temporary Water Safety Coordinator . This position is grant funded for a 2-year period and is located at the Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center (CMRCC) in Sterling, VA. If you enjoy aquatics, have the specialty skills needed to provide program organization and safety supervision, then this could be the position you've been looking for. Reporting to the CMRCC Aquatics Manager and the grant program directors, top priorities for this position will include:
- Instruct Certified Pool Operator courses to the community once a month
- Promote water safety through marketing, social media, and professional development to the public and aquatics team within the county
- Plan and execute an annual water safety conference each year over the two-year span of the grant to coincide with water safety month (May)
- Coordinate water safety incentives to the community
- Prepare lesson plans for activities including the equipment and organization of materials needed for each session
- Instruct and evaluate participants within the required guidelines for each activity
- Maintain records and reports as required
- Ensure policies, procedures, and regulations set by the facility are followed at all times
- Collaborate with the aquatics team to ensure the follow through for the grant guidelines

- Be able to work a flexible schedule to include early mornings, nights, and weekends

- Demonstrate competency working with innovative and evolving technology and equipment
- Perform strenuous work that may require lifting 20 lbs., swimming, and climbing
- Be aware there may be occasional health emergencies which may require administration of CPR and/or First Aid and/or contact with emergency response agencies
- Be aware there will be occasional maintenance/cleaning of pool area and/or bathrooms which may require performance to meet standard cleaning procedures and universal precautions
- Have exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, acids, and other cleaning supplies
- Ongoing training and development opportunities including attendance at the National Water Safety Conference
Job Requirements
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma
- A minimum of 2 years experience in an aquatics environment
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Instructor or Aquatic Facility Operator Instructor required
- Lifeguard certification, First Aid, CPR-PR, AED & Supplemental Oxygen (within 90 days of hire)
- Negative TB Test required

- Four years of related work experience preferred
