Job Description

This position will be responsible for supervising the plant’s receiving and material handling operation for assigned shift/area.  The individual will direct and coordinate the activities of all receiving area operations and employees in those functions, ensuring smooth operations.  Serves as an example to subordinates and enforces all applicable safety rules.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Accountable for achieving production requirements set by Manager, NA Supply Chain, ensuring that production is run at acceptable rates
  • Responsible for the quality requirements of the product leaving the department including the accuracy of data
  • Responsible for troubleshooting production, machine and tooling problems, staffing, material handling and work flow concerns that may impede goal achievement
  • Utilizes the personnel in total area moving manpower according to demands
  • Understanding of industrial safety ensuring that the employees perform their tasks in a safe and acceptable fashion
  • Aware of internal and external customer demands
  • Promote continuous improvement programs and employee empowerment
  • Accountable for the tracking and delivery of the finish goods to their designated areas
  • Maintain metrics to communication to entire team
  • Responsible for the execution of transfers and transactions of material
  • Provide and develop leadership; develop an environment where team members coach team members
  • Coordinate the training of new employees and development of existing employees
  • Coach team members for increased performance; counsel and take corrective action when necessary
  • Responsible for overtime management and floor coverage during absenteeism
  • Responsible for insuring cross training of critical positions and verifying proficiency of cross trained personnel at regular intervals

Education/Experience

  • A high school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a warehouse environment working with equipment and machinery
  • Minimum one year supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and expertise in distribution operations and facility management
  • Broad knowledge of material handling, warehouse operations and transportation systems required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
  • Awareness of OSHA safety rules required
  • SAP knowledge a plus
  • RF proficiency a plus
