The Head of Total Rewards will be a key member of Beautycounter's People Leadership Team and report to the Chief People Officer. This position will be responsible for the development, implementation, communication, and administration of Beautycounter's compensation, benefits and recognition programs that will enable the company to attract, reward, and retain top talent. The ideal candidate will have extensive total rewards experience including building programs from the ground up. They will drive innovation in our rewards strategy while leading communications around the value of our total rewards. They are a strategic thinker, have a strong executive presence and will work cross functionally with various levels of associates and leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and continually advance compensation and benefits strategies to align with business strategy and ensure the right mix of offerings are available to attract and retain an innovative, high caliber workforce. These include base pay, incentives (bonus and equity), annual rewards aligned with performance, health, wellness and retirement.
- Partner with senior leadership and People business partners to understand business needs and define and develop the Total Rewards philosophy, vision, and strategy. Effectively incorporate into plan designs the support of short and long term business objectives.
- Oversee all annual processes associated with Total Rewards including planning annual compensation review cycles; benefits open enrollment, communications and marketing; equity management, administration and communication.
- Proactively prepare and provide strategic analysis for budget purposes related to merit, bonus and market adjustments.
- Manage overall compensation program, to include leading on promotions, job evaluations and job architecture/classification philosophy.
- Oversee benefits strategy, plan design, and communication. Oversee health and welfare plan administration, to include annual open enrollment process and any associated plan changes, retirement plan administration, wellness and rewards/recognition programs. Monitor selected vendors against service level agreements and effectiveness.
- Prepare Total Rewards updates for executive leadership, Board of Directors and Compensation Committee. Develop materials for Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Work in partnership with other centers of excellence within the People Team and People Business Partners to provide counsel to hiring managers when developing offer proposals, utilizing external market data and internal compensation analysis tools.
- Partner with the People Technology Leader on the implementation of an HRIS and the utilization of tools, data and analytics to support the business.
- Develop and participate in compensation/benefits surveys to gain an understanding of market trends and changing conditions. Assess findings and impact on the company.
- Champion the audit of Total Rewards programs. Determine compliancy with legal requirements and recommend actions for new and evolving compensation legislation.
- Gain an understanding of global Total Rewards programs to help the company prepare for expanding into overseas markets.
Requirements:
- At least 15 years relevant experience with a focus on Total Rewards and a minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.
- Experienced compensation and benefits leader, with prior responsibility for overall compensation and benefit plan strategy, program design, deployment and administration.
- Excellent executive presence, with ability to present compensation recommendations and lead on practices like Compensation Committee at the Board of Directors level.
- Advanced knowledge in equity programs (including Long Term Incentive Plans).
- Deep understanding and expertise in executive and Board of Directors compensation.
- Ability to undertake competitive benchmarking and process the outcomes of the benchmarking into meaningful analysis and recommendations for action.
- Strong analytical skills coupled with financial discipline; solution oriented.
- Demonstrated strong business acumen, ability to think strategically and critically.
- Strong negotiation and consultative skills with the ability to partner with and influence all levels in the organization including senior leadership.
- Proven track record of forming and maintaining positive business relationships; highly collaborative.
- Ability to operate in an ambiguous environment and bring structure (e.g. creation of a job architecture); develop solutions that address relevant and changing business needs.
- Excellent team leader and developer of people.
Pay: $255k – $305k for work locations in the United States, with individual pay determined by several factors including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, education, and training. Salary ranges are determined in good faith by role, level, and location. As a remote-eligible job, a narrower salary range for a candidate's preferred location may be available.
Bonus: Additional compensation includes an annual discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
