Job Summary:
The College of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Visiting Associate Professor (HS). The successful candidate will:
- Lead a research program in an area of health equity/health disparities (e.g. found in cancer, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, or other cardiometabolic diseases).
- Join a vibrant health equity research community that includes the Brooklyn Health Disparities Center (BHDC), the SUNY Downstate Clinical and Translational Science Center, the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health, the Special Treatment and Research (STAR) Program, the NIH-funded Program to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE), and more.
- Be expected to establish an innovative and independent research program that will attract and maintain extramural funding form governmental agencies, private foundations, or industry.
Required Qualifications:
- MD, PhD or Doctorate in any relevant discipline and quality for rank at the Associate for Full-Professor level.
- Substantial federal funding, an outstanding record of transdisciplinary research, a dedicated commitment to scholarly mentorship, and a deep understanding of the power of community-engaged research.
- Have a range of scientific expertise that include basic laboratory research, clinical/translational research, outcomes/health services research, or community-based participatory research related to cardiometabolic conditions.
