PRIMARY DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Virtualization Administrator will be a member of the sustainment team and will be responsible for all aspects of architectural design, administration, maintenance, and management of the virtualization infrastructure for government networks. The Virtualization Administrator position is responsible for:
- Manages system uptime and resource availability for the VMware vSphere virtualized architecture.
- Configures, manages, and troubleshoots issues with the VMware architecture, including virtual servers, VDI pools, virtual networks, and physical hardware.
- Creates snapshots and backups of the virtual environment using internal features and VEEAM software.
- Applies VMware vSphere ESXi system and component patches and performing system upgrades.
- Works with additional team members to configure, manage, and troubleshoot virtualized Windows and Linux servers.
- Works with additional team members to manage port, protocol, and network configuration information related to the VMware environment.
- Works with additional team members to implement IAVs and STIG mitigations to satisfy cybersecurity requirements
- Collaborates with other team members to develop, implement, and revise processes to meet technical and security- related requirements for administration of the VMware architecture.
- Documents, communicates and implements standardized processes and procedures for an effective administration of the VMware environment
- Maintains all DoDD 8140.01 Cyberspace Workforce Management qualifying criteria certifications, an active clearance and all annual required training
Requirements
MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in IT or relative Technical Degree
- Current qualifying certification/experience to meet DoDD 8140.01 Cyberspace Workforce Management criteria(previously DoDD 8570.1 Cybersecurity Workforce Management Framework or CSWF) - IAT 2 level preferred
- 10+ years of experience in administration, management, engineering, and/or maintenance of VMware-based virtualized environments, including direct hands-on experience with large scale, high-availability, and distributed architectures.
- Experience with virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments using VMware Horizon View.
DESIRED SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience working in DoD enterprise environments.
- Experience with cybersecurity frameworks and implementation tools, such as RMF, DIACAP, STIGs, IAVs, etc.
- Experience with enterprise cybersecurity technologies such as: Host Based Security Systems (HBSS), Assured
- Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Log/Audit solutions (e.g. SPLUNK, Archsight, etc.), Intrusion
- Detection/Protection Systems (IDS/IPS), Firewalls, etc.
- Experience with administration of Windows and/or Linux operating systems in a VMware environment.
