This VIE position within Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) is in Houston, and more precisely, our Client Coverage & Investment Banking (COV) team which has a focus on the Energy Transition and New Energies (e.g., renewable power, hydrogen, biofuels, battery storage, etc.) within our existing and prospective Energy and Energy Transition client base.

Our Investment Banking internship provides knowledge of commercial and investment banking, our business lines, and corporate culture that will enable long-term success in a fast-paced and challenging sector.
Support the bankers who manage client relationships, source, originate, develop, and often execute the firm's array of financing solutions and transactions
Assist the global product specialists and bankers with pitches for clients and prospects with a focus on debt & equity capital markets, specialized new energies finance (e.g., renewable power, hydrogen, biofuels, battery storage, etc.), interest rate hedging, FX, mergers and acquisitions, and project finance
Support the bankers during the execution of transactions (profitability calculation, memo drafting, onboarding process, etc.)
Assist in the on-boarding of new clients and ongoing monitoring and management of the existing portfolio, including monitoring of covenant compliance, maintenance of internal credit ratings and LGD, Know Your Customer, etc.
Assist the credit team as needed with coordinating the credit approval process
Manage internal planning, budgeting, and compliance reports
Learn the role of the banker/financing specialist in advising companies how to finance operations, structure balance sheets and execute transactions
Prepare market research and presentations as needed, on both macro and micro topics
Interact with senior bankers and product lines regarding client pitching and transaction execution
Create and maintain industry-specific/client-specific PowerPoint presentations
Conduct industry/company-specific research
Gather and report sector intelligence from industry sources, such as Bloomberg and Capital IQ

Studies & experience:
Graduate with a Master's degree from Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Finance/Economics/Accounting
A previous experience in the Energy Transition, New Energies, Power/Utilities, Oil & Gas, or Natural Resources industries and/or exposure to credit analysis would be highly appreciated
Language skills:
Fluent in English (B2-C1)
Technical, operational & Soft skills:
Proficient/Good command of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Highly developed written and oral communication skills
Advanced analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements, cashflows, and corporate finance valuation
Experience in looking at financial statements to perform in-depth company analysis/valuation
Knowledge and interest in the Energy Transition and new Energies industries
Self-motivation with a strong work ethic and ability to function independently as well as part of a team
The ability and willingness to prioritize effectively and work on multiple projects with competing deadlines
The candidate should be reliable, quality-oriented, and able to excel in fast-paced, pressure-oriented environments
Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills will be the keys to success in this role
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong desire to learn from senior bankers

The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Houston is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 18 months.
In case a visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact there that your VIE mission could potentially get postponed, depending on the evolution of the health crisis and subjects to the decision made by the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE).
