ABOUT THE JOB:
This position is responsible for assisting victims of crime and surviving families as they go through the adult and juvenile justice systems. The individual in this position will provide victims information about their rights; provide support and information about the justice system; recommend referrals to community resources; provide crisis intervention; and assist with restitution. The incumbent serves as a liaison between crime victims and the District Attorney's Office, the justice system, law enforcement, and community organizations. Position is also responsible for documenting information about victim rights, restitution, and services provided in a variety of data information systems.

This is a full time position that will work in a professional office Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide information to crime victims about their rights throughout the criminal justice system.
  • Work alongside Deputy District Attorneys and law enforcement to provide support and service referrals to crime victims.
  • Assist with collecting restitution documentation.
What You Will Bring:
Knowledge of or experience with:
  • State regulations and standards governing the administration of victims' rights laws for both juvenile and adult justice systems.
  • Principles of caseload management, record keeping, case files, and records management.
  • Local community resources and available community services programs.
Skill in:
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software, and entering information into a computer system with speed and accuracy.
  • Coordinating and performing a variety of CJS case management and technical support functions.
  • De-escalation and crisis intervention.
  • Interacting with people of different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Services, or related field;
  • AND one (1) year of social services case management or criminal justice system experience;
  • OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or Criminal Justice field and 3 years of experience in either social services or legal field.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE: Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.

Candidates will be required to attend a 40-hour Victims' Assistance Academy in Oregon within the first 12 months of hire date.

Must be willing and able to drive throughout the State of Oregon in sometimes adverse weather conditions, and work a flexible schedule when necessary, including evenings, weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the program.
