Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Act as the strategic leader responsible for providing vision and leadership of the Information Technology Division to achieve competitive advantage by delivering technological, information, and communication services to the stakeholders of the company (policyholders, agents, and employees). Develop short and long term strategic plans to provide secure and efficient technology that enhances stakeholder productivity and delivers industry leading services.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Develop short and long term corporate strategic and operational plans with emphasis on the role that technology, information, and communication services can support the plans and mission of the company.

2. Confer with stakeholders to identify needs that are not being met and develop strategy to meet those needs.

3. Confer with stakeholders to identify processes and procedures that are no longer necessary and develop plans to refocus those misdirected resources.

4. Demand a customer centered culture within the Division and hold all employees accountable.

5. Evaluate and assess current data processing technology and techniques; identifying resources needed; analyzing costs and benefits.

6. Regularly evaluate the management structure of the Information Technology Division in response to changes in the technological environment and stakeholder needs

7. Recommend plans for automation including techniques and equipment needs to Executive Management.

8. Provide cost benefit analyses of various options and recommend course of action, integrating users needs and organizational capabilities.

9. Oversee and manage all technology vendor and consulting relationships.

10. Oversee the development and implementation of proprietary application systems in a timely manner with a high degree of quality.

11. Translate technical information and terminology into language understandable by the stakeholders of the company.

12. Provide for technical and non-technical training of Division staff.

13. Represent OM by participating in industry, business, and professional organizations.

14. Determine staffing needs, hire, train, develop and conduct performance and salary evaluations on Division management staff, and others as necessary.

15. Assist with the implementation and communication of personnel programs and policies.

16. Guide and support managers in development of departmental plans and procedures.

17. Direct implementation of strategic and operational plans; monitor progress; taking corrective action, when necessary.

18. Formulate and manage division budget.

19. Deliver high value commensurate with benchmark expenditures by similarly situated organizations.

20. Communicate corporate philosophies, goals, plans and progress.

21. Exemplify corporate values, using positive interpersonal skills to support co-workers, company policies and company changes

22. Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.

23. Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.

24. The ability to communicate technology concepts and objective in an understandable manner to non-technologists, employees, colleagues and the Board of Directors.


PERIPHERAL DUTIES

1. Partner with fellow executives in formulating corporation aspiration and vision.

2. Serves as a member of various employee and organizational committees.

3. Performs other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 10 years experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the required skills.

2. A minimum of 4 years of significant technological leadership experience, preferably within a financial sector company.

3. Demonstrated extensive knowledge of computer systems, principles, and design.

4. Demonstrated considerable knowledge of system analysis, design, and file management techniques.

5. Proven ability to select, negotiate with, and manage application vendors and consultants.

6. Experience and sound understanding of project management disciplines and best practices.

7. Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects to successful outcomes.

8. Must have demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results.

9. Proven ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, and to conduct long term strategic planning.

10. Ability to develop, implement, and improve internal controls and protocols that consistently deliver predictable, accurate, timely results and that assure recoverability.

11. Commitment to Company mission and values.

12. Ability to effectively represent the Company in various industry, regulatory and judicial forums.

13. Proficient in Microsoft Office and work-related programs.

14. Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communication skills, including presentation skills.

15. Valid State Driver’s License and acceptable driving record may be required


DESIREABLE QUALITIES

1. Experience successfully leading organization through a significant technology change.

2. Experience working with offshore service providers.

3. Experience with business intelligence, data structure, and data mining.

4. CPCU or other relevent property/casualty insurance designation.
