Form of workTexas Biomed issearching for a Veterinary ResearchTechnician - Marmoset group to join our team. This position will providesupport and technical assistance on research, clinical, and surgical procedureswith Marmosets.
The Role:
• Performs observations of laboratory non-humanprimates in single and group housing and provides husbandry care
• Reviews clinicalhistory, and performs a basic health check.
• Triages and aids in the treatment ofanimals with wounds and other clinical conditions under the direction of aVeterinarian.
• Uses appropriate standard husbandryprocedures to clean and sanitize animal areas.
• Prepares, induces, maintains, recovers,and documents anesthesia events to include IV
catheterization and intubation.
• Collects, labels, and distributesbiological specimens and tissues from non-human primates.
• Maintains, cleans, operates, and reportscondition of equipment.
• Prepares non-human primates forpathologic evaluation and may assist with necropsy.
• Maintains written documentation andsubsequent data entry into the record database.
Our Ideal Candidate:
• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma
• At least 2 years of job specific experience
• Valid driver's license
• Preferred: AALAS (ALAT, LAT, or LATG) certification, or Licensed Veterinary Technician; 60 hours college or Associate's degree or Bachelor's Degree in related field; previous research experience with non-human primates or other laboratory animals
• Available to work Monday-Friday, 7am to 4pm with rotating schedule covering weekends and holidays
