Receptionist Employer Spirit of 76 Veterinary Clinic:
Our receptionists are the face of our practice. These team members are the first and lasting impression for every client that calls or comes in the door.
Job description:
- Provide top notch customer service
- Greet all clients/patients with a professional, warm, friendly demeanor
- Offer professional compassion and support during difficult situations such as euthanasia
- Answering phones (answer all phone calls with proper telephone etiquette and promptly) -gathering information and directing questions appropriately, emergency triage of calls, provide sub-professional advice and knowledge regarding pet care, managing multi-line phone system
- Client call backs
- Appointment scheduling
- Be competent in emergency triage
- Checking clients in – appointment (vaccines etc), surgery, drop off, euthanasia - Maintain proper documentation in the electronic medical record
- Checking clients out – process payment transactions
- Ensure that all future reminders are correct in medical record before patients leave
- Open the practice and set up for the morning as directed
- Close the practice for the evening as directed
- Checking clinic emails
- Collect lab specimens from pet owners
- Setting up intestinal parasite tests
- Scheduling appointments – gather all client and pet information and record accurately in medical records
- Discharge patients
- Relay appropriate information to/from clients to doctors and/or management
- Promote practice protocols on wellness and prevention
- Perform over the counter selling of pet foods and supplies. Exercise a technical knowledge of products sold
- Managing referrals – sending documentation to providers and gathering previous medical records from providers – file appropriately
- Basic handling of cats, dogs, small mammals and exotic animals
- Scanning in new patient records
- Keeping the lobby, rooms and bathrooms clean and tidy

Skill set required:
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must work well as a team
- Multitasking skills (also be done while “on stage” in full view of the lobby audience)
- Have the ability to calm distressed human and animal clients
- Learn product information
- Perform basic math
- Identify and work compassionately with clients in various emotional states
- Work patiently with distressed, frustrated or disgruntled clients
- Being attentive to client and pet needs
- Able to work with a computer

Hours
We like to keep everything fair at Spirit of 76th Veterinary Clinic for all our staff members therefore we do require our Veterinary Receptionists to be flexible in their work hours.
Our clinic hours are: Mon-Thurs 8am-7pm, Friday 8am-6pm and Saturday 8am-2pm
We have 3 shifts for our Veterinary Receptionists
· Opening shift: 6:45am-3pm
· Mid shift: 9am - 5pm
· Closing shift: 11am-7pm
Our veterinary receptionists work 8 hour shifts 5 days per week.
We do require our receptionists to work 1 Saturday per month after completing their 3 month probationary training period. When you work a Saturday you will have extra time off throughout the week.
Full time is roughly 40 hours per week
Part time is roughly 20 hours per week
